Material Handler

Job Summary:
As a key member of the International Automotive Components team, the Material Handler plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our supply chain. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to determine materials to be moved, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to the assembly lines.
- Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or by powered industrial truck, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
- Loads materials into vehicles by powered industrial truck and secures them with strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent damage during transit.
- Reviews daily material requirements, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained and that materials are available when needed.
- Weighs product accurately for shipment using digital scales, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Prepares for inventory by maintaining the work area in a neat and orderly condition, ready for recorders to inspect and verify inventory levels.
- Manually stretch wraps cartons on the production floor to prepare them for shipment or warehouse return, ensuring that products are properly secured and protected.
- Conveys materials from work sites to staging areas for warehouse pick-up by powered industrial truck, maintaining a safe and efficient workflow.
- Observes all health and safety requirements, maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, with 3 months of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of raw materials and their properties, as well as the ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use simple arithmetic, simple formulas, charts, and schedules, as well as maintain and understand records.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, getting along with coworkers and maintaining a positive attitude.
- Must be able to be certified to operate a powered industrial truck, demonstrating a commitment to safety and efficiency.
