Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Foreperson to join our team at Wright Tree Service. As a Foreperson, you will be responsible for leading a line clearance crew and ensuring the proper administration, communication, and enforcement of supervisory and economic work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise a line clearance crew and enforce safety practices, quality, and quantity of work production.
  • Work with Human Resources regarding employment, discipline, separation, leaves of absence, and policy enforcement.
  • Interview potential candidates, conduct performance evaluations, and provide feedback to crew members.
  • Participate in training, administer oral drug testing, and understand obligations related to reasonable suspicion training and process.
  • Direct lead crew members, provide technical expertise, and ensure proper equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Assign work to individual crew members, supervise crew operations, and conduct safety training.
  • Responsible for maintaining records, reports, and providing updates to supervisors and utility representatives.
  • Investigate accident reports, damage claims, and settle minor damage or injury claims.
  • Work with Risk Management regarding work comp claims, return to work status, and communicate with Safety Supervisor.
  • Control crew costs, inspect working conditions, and request repairs and replacements when necessary.
  • Stay informed of new equipment specifications, standard practices, and operating procedures.
  • Respond to emergency situations, determine action to be taken, and maintain a list of locations for crew personnel.
  • Communicate with customers, property owners, and representatives of utilities and governmental agencies.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4-5 years' experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews.
  • Excellent leadership skills, ability to handle stressful situations, and multitask.
  • Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and arboricultural techniques.
  • Knowledge of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI Z133.1-2000) and American National Standards for Proper Pruning (ANSI A300).
  • Understanding of OSHA rules and guidelines.
  • Experience with computers, Microsoft Office products, and electrical circuits.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, enforce on-the-job safety practices, and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds and work long hours, including overtime during emergencies.
  • Valid driver's license, medical card, and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Maintain herbicide applicator or operator certification and license as required by Wright Tree Service and local, state, and federal law.
  • Valid First-Aid and CPR cards.
