Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will be tasked with performing minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs across the premises and surrounding areas. This role is essential in ensuring that the exterior spaces are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion. Additionally, the technician will assist in the upkeep of buildings, offices, and equipment, and support the procurement of parts as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct minor electrical repairs in both interior and exterior locations, including light fixtures and bulb replacements.
  • Execute minor plumbing tasks throughout the facility, such as toilet and sink repairs.
  • Carry out general maintenance on the building, including repairing and painting doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and roofs.
  • Ensure that the company’s facilities and grounds are kept clean and efficient, including managing waste and recycling bins.
  • Maintain mechanical equipment in proper working order and perform necessary repairs.
  • Install or replace floor and ceiling tiles, stairs, and piping as required.
  • Retrieve parts from suppliers using company vehicles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the safe use of common power and hand tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tools required for maintenance tasks.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Punctual and reliable.

Education and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a handyman, maintenance mechanic, or building maintenance role.
  • Experience with minor electrical repairs, including changing light bulbs and repairing outlets.
  • Familiarity with plumbing system components and repairs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass drug and alcohol screenings and a physical examination.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, twist, turn, and reach.
  • Capability to climb ladders safely.
  • Ability to work in environments with noise, fumes, and dust.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and push or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Willingness to work on holidays and weekends as required.
