Job DescriptionWe are seeking a full-time Weekend Shelter Advocate to provide advocacy and support to survivors in our shelter and on our 24-Hour Hotline.
As a Weekend Shelter Advocate, you will engage in active listening to ensure survivors have a knowledgeable, trauma-informed, and empathetic person to support them in accessing resources and services.
You will help survivors receive immediate support by working with local hospitals and law enforcement, and ensure their basic needs are met by stocking food and other necessary items.
Responsibilities- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for survivors
- Engage in active listening and provide emotional support to survivors
- Assist survivors in accessing resources and services
- Work with local hospitals and law enforcement to provide immediate support to survivors
- Ensure survivors' basic needs are met by stocking food and other necessary items
- HS diploma or related field OR professional experience working with trauma survivors
- Knowledge about sexual assault and domestic violence
- Strong advocacy, listening, and crisis intervention skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Wisconsin driver's license and proof of insurance
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
This full-time position typically works Friday from 4 pm to midnight, Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm, and Sunday from 9 am to 9 pm.
We offer a competitive wage of $17.00/hour and a comprehensive benefits package, including 3 weeks of paid vacation, 13 paid holidays, and more.
