PhD Position in Computational Biophysics for Membrane Proteins

CHARMM-GUI is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join our team in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi. As a member of the Jing Li group, you will have the opportunity to learn and apply molecular dynamics simulation, bioinformatics, and machine learning modeling to investigate the sequence-structure-dynamics-function relationship of ion channels and membrane transporters.

Research Focus

We aim to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying dysfunctions in these membrane proteins that contribute to various diseases. Our research group is committed to providing a collaborative team-based environment with ample opportunities for education, training, and career development.

Qualifications
  • Recent master/bachelor degree
  • General background in biophysics, biochemistry, molecular biology, or physical chemistry
  • Programming skills
  • Passion in computational scientific research
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in performing molecular dynamics simulation or machine-learning modeling on biomolecules
  • Experience in writing research articles and a track record of peer-reviewed publications in biomedical research
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
