Production Assembler

We are seeking a skilled Production Assembler to become a vital part of the Benchmade Knife Company.

The Production Assembler is tasked with adhering to both written and verbal instructions to execute various assembly operations, assembling small components into fully functional knives.

This role involves making adjustments and alignments to guarantee the smooth operation of movable parts.

The Production Assembler also conducts cosmetic inspections of components during assembly to uphold high-quality standards.

After inspection, the assembler tests the knife for functionality and performs minor troubleshooting as needed.

This position aims to meet production and quality targets while promptly communicating any issues to supervisors or process technicians.

Participation in continuous improvement initiatives is expected.

Assemble knives from components utilizing small manual and semi-automatic tools and fixtures.

Conduct visual inspections of parts used in knife assembly to ensure they meet cosmetic standards.

Perform minor troubleshooting of issues encountered during assembly. Use signals to alert supervisors of any concerns.

Complete necessary documentation.

May be assigned to various tasks within the department to support operational needs. Cross-train in different assembly functions, which may include preparing sub-assemblies, laser marking, serration, sharpening, or cleaning and packaging of finished knives.


Actively engage in continuous improvement teams and foster a culture of improvement by addressing departmental challenges while aligning with the company's vision.

Consistently achieve daily production, cycle time, and quality objectives.

Maintain a proficient level or higher in all categories outlined in the skills matrix for this role.

Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required. Equivalent qualifications will also be considered.

Demonstrated manual dexterity and ability to handle and assemble small components.

Strong attention to detail is essential.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical assembly issues.

Capable of working in a flow line and meeting fast-paced production demands.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in performing subjective inspections, such as cosmetic criteria and assessing knife functionality (smooth opening, detent force, blade stability).

Must be able to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions in English.

Basic computer skills are advantageous.
