A Day in the Life of a Physical Therapist Assistant

As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a physical therapist to implement and document a plan of treatment for patients of all ages.

  • You will assist in the development of a plan of care to promote optimal functional independence and safety.
  • You will provide skilled physical therapy treatment, including restorative and maintenance therapeutic techniques, patient/caregiver education, and assessing the patient's status and progress on each visit.
  • You will assist in the coordination of patient care with other clinical team members, including physicians, nurses, caregivers, physical therapists, and other rehab services.
  • You will remain vigilant to identify and report changes in patient conditions related to the prescribed plan of care.
  • You will complete and coordinate required paperwork in compliance with federal and state regulations, organizational and departmental policies, and standards of care.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited university or college.
  • Valid Vermont State Physical Therapist Assistant license.
  • Prior physical therapist assistant experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Continuing education tuition assistance for work-related courses.
