About the Job

This is a unique opportunity to join the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a mental health setting. As a member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the well-being of our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of a registered nurse.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the Recovery Model and mental health environment of care.
  • Accurately record and report patient care consistent with policy and procedure.
  • Participate in Treatment Team meetings and maintain a safe, clean, therapeutic environment.
  • Prevent injury to self and others by complying with established safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and/or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
  • Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as LPN.
  • 1-2 years of experience as LPN in outpatient mental health setting.
  • Working knowledge of psychiatric nursing and mental health clinic workload and flow.
