Candidate Profile

Join TotalEnergies Renewables USA, LLC as an Interconnection & Transmission Lead reporting to our Austin, TX, office.

The Interconnection & Transmission Lead role is pivotal in overseeing all aspects related to transmission and interconnection for solar, wind, hybrid, and standalone storage initiatives. The selected candidate will engage in interconnection and transmission activities from the project's inception to the execution of the Interconnection Agreement within the U.S. markets.

What You Will Bring:
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in transmission planning, transmission, or interconnection engineering; experience in renewables is advantageous.
  • Ability to effectively manage a diverse portfolio of projects concurrently through the Interconnection Studies and Project Development phases of the generation interconnection process
  • Proficiency in conducting power flow simulations utilizing tools such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSLF, and/or TARA.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in economic transmission planning and studies using UPLAN, PROMOD, PLEXOS, etc.
  • Strong understanding of the RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes across various markets, including CAISO, PJM, SPP, MISO, or other eastern interconnection areas.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities to facilitate effective communication with other departmental teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct and summarize transmission and power flow analyses to generate actionable insights and communicate findings to development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and assess modifications to transmission and interconnection tariffs, costs, timelines, queues, and processes across various markets.
  • Review and develop interconnection applications and study agreements, including associated drawings and specifications.
  • Provide regular updates, ensuring the project management database accurately reflects project Point of Interconnection (POI), market, and study status. Maintain the file server with the latest report/agreement files.
  • Oversee consultants engaged in interconnection modeling and studies, including load flow analyses of current and future utility system conditions.
  • Offer technical support for various renewable energy projects to different teams within the organization.
