Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Non CDL Residential Driver to join our team at Waste Pro. As a key member of our refuse collection team, you will be responsible for assisting our drivers on pre-assigned and special routes to pick up garbage, yard waste, or recycling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pick up solid waste and place it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specified routes, often done manually or by pushing toter to tipper.
  • Lift and carry trash bags, bulk items, and containers to the truck for disposal, and climb onto and off of the rear truck step to load refuse, waste, and carts.
  • Operate the packing mechanism to compact waste into the truck, and ensure garbage and recyclables at residences are picked up and transferred properly.
  • Provide a safe and Distinguishably Different level of service through courteous and expeditious customer service in all aspects of refuse operation to the general public and customers.
  • Assist drivers in safely backing up the truck by directing them from the ground, and report any safety or customer service-related issues to drivers and supervisors immediately.
  • Clean behind the compactor blade with a shovel and hoe when directed, and spray and clean the hopper and truck at the end of each shift or as needed.
  • Perform a variety of manual duties in the clean-up of scattered refuse, and clean up the area around accidental waste spills and ensure customers' containers are replaced properly.
  • May be required to work during emergency situations, and assist other routes as needed to complete daily work.
Requirements
  • Be able to follow safe operating practices and learn and use interpersonal skills relating to good customer service.
  • Be able and willing to work in a team environment, and be able to read, write, and comprehend reports well enough to complete daily assignments.
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the state in which the position works, and requires a clean driving record.
  • At least 3 years of previous experience operating a motor vehicle, and must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices, and be able to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction, and see in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Work Environment

Works in a variety of environment conditions, including wide temperature and weather variations, including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind, noise, and vibrations, fumes, odors, and dust.
