Job Title: MRI Technologist

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic MRI scans, collaborating with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging, and providing exceptional patient care. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform MRI cross-sectional imaging procedures as directed by licensed physicians, operating and monitoring MRI equipment to achieve optimal image quality.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients, position and instruct patients for MRI tests, and monitor patient conditions after scans to ensure safety and comfort.
  • Administer contrast media accurately under the direction of radiologists, maintaining magnetic field safety for patients, operators, and visitors.
  • Maintain patient logs, equipment service manuals, delivery schedules, and related statistics, delivering quality patient care and services in accordance with regulated standards.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines, demonstrating problem-solving skills to effectively handle radiographic MRI technical occurrences.
  • Utilize knowledge of 3D anatomy and imaging planes as required by radiologists.

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a MRI Tech.
  • Completion of an AMA-approved two-year Radiology program with an AS degree in Radiology.
  • State License Required preferred.
  • CT Experience preferred, not required.
  • Graduates from a four-year program with a BS RT preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate.
  • Ability to function efficiently and pleasantly under pressure, communicate effectively with diverse individuals, and possess working knowledge of computers, keyboarding, and various programs.

This role requires the ability to communicate with others, receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine distinctions in sounds. The individual must be able to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned and perceive general observations. The position involves remaining upright on the feet, moving about on foot, bending, extending hands and arms, exerting force, picking, pinching, typing, and applying pressure. The individual must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, and make appropriate job decisions following standard office policies and past precedents.

The ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public is essential. The individual must be able to interact appropriately with colleagues and patients for different purposes and different contexts. Constantly operating a computer or other large machinery is required.

Marginal requirements include the ability to remain in a stationary position at least 25% of the time, moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, and working independently to identify potentially more effective methods of work operations.
