Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in upholding quality standards by conducting laboratory analyses, interpreting findings, and monitoring data trends in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling and laboratory testing in a manufacturing setting, adhering to GLP standards.
  • Communicate results of raw material, in-process, and finished product testing to management and production staff as necessary.
  • Meet all company testing proficiency requirements, including maintaining required state testing certifications.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained, which includes calibration, performance monitoring, cleaning glassware, and performing routine maintenance and repairs.
  • Engage in activities as outlined in the Laboratory Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Prepare necessary laboratory solutions and media.
  • Guarantee that all laboratory documentation generated is clear, complete, accurate, and complies with company procedures.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to the laboratory, including timely recording, scanning, reporting, filing, and managing inventory.
  • Maintain laboratory organization in accordance with GMP and 5S principles, ensuring a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality, manufacturing, social responsibility, attendance, and training.
  • Assume key responsibilities of the Quality Analyst Lead in their absence or as required.
  • Be available for overtime work as assigned.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in a professional manner.

Qualifications:

The minimum qualifications for this role include:

  • An Associate's degree in a technical field with at least one year of laboratory experience or five years of experience in a Quality Control laboratory, preferably in the food or dairy industry.
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols, laboratory practices, and GMP standards is essential.
  • Familiarity with HACCP, PMO, and basic sanitation practices is preferred.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the capacity to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and laboratory software.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and a readiness to assist colleagues.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work all assigned schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays, while adhering to time and attendance policies.
  • Experience with smear slides and microscope operation is advantageous.
  • Comfortable operating sterilization equipment such as an autoclave.
