The Registered Nurse II PRN is a key member of our healthcare team, responsible for assessing, planning, directing, implementing, and assisting to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. This role is committed to working a minimum number of shifts per the RN PRN Workplan agreement.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:- Plans, assesses, directs, implements and provides quality patient care for assigned patients to include modifying nursing care, medication administration and discharge planning.
- Provides education directed towards individualized patient needs utilizing the nursing process in coordination with policies and procedures.
- Monitors changes in patient condition to include recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs and intervening when appropriate.
- Performs complete data collection from patient presenting complaints and pertinent history.
- Collaborates with patients to identify treatment plan goals, and discharges patients as appropriate with a written discharge plan. Encourages family participation as appropriate for age and situation.
- Delivers nursing care to patients including assessment and planning of education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, treatment, pain management, and discharge utilizing the nursing process.
- Documents accurately in medical records, on forms, and in the computer entering appropriate orders, patient charges, and or other information, meeting standards, policy, and procedures.
- Delivers quality care by using multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing the risk of infection, harm, or injury.
- Maintains accurate detailed reports and records and directs care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.
- Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors.
- Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
- Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
- Collaborates with patient care team members on patient care plan, incorporating consistent use of hand-off communication.
- Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations, as applicable.
- Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures.
- Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state within 90 days.
- Must have a minimum of 12 months of experience as a practicing Registered Nurse.
- Current JPS-recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Completion of unit-specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.
- Successful completion of EKG and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire, if working on a monitored unit and maintained throughout employment.
