About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician to join our team at the Department of Enterprise Services. As a Fire Sprinkler Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repairs of all fire sprinkler systems on Capitol Campus and other Department of Enterprise Services owned facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain detailed testing and inspection schedules for fire sprinkler systems.
  • Oversee vendor installation and alteration of fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, and local codes and regulations.
  • Implement and administer procedures to complete code-required inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems.
  • Perform urgent and routine repairs as needed, including reacting to work orders submitted through WMC for any fire sprinkler-related issue.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and code enforcement officials to ensure that fire sprinklers are designed and installed correctly according to NFPA 13, IBC, IFC, and local codes.
Requirements
  • Washington State Fire Marshal Level ITT Certificate of Competency or NICET II Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Sprinkler Systems or American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) Field Technician Certificate or Washington State Fire Marshal Journey Level Status as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter.
  • One (1) year experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 13, 25, and 101.
  • Possess a valid Washington Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) license.
  • Ability to read and interpret fire sprinkler plans and blueprints.
  • Basic Computer Skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with 'Brycer Compliance Engine' reporting software.
  • Experience with clean agent fire suppression systems.
