The Welder role involves setting up and operating machinery to weld components of fabricated metal products while performing assigned tasks in Ville Platte, La.

This position entails performing routine and repetitive tasks with minimal supervision, with detailed instructions provided as necessary. Continuous growth in knowledge and skills is expected, along with the acquisition of relevant work experience. Typically, this role requires 2-5 years of experience. Demonstrates a solid understanding of various welding principles and techniques. Tasks require a fundamental knowledge of concepts and procedures.
Ability to identify basic problems in the welding process and report them to the appropriate supervisor or lead person promptly.

Ongoing training will be provided in interpreting drawings and specifications to ascertain dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

Familiarity with computer systems is necessary to access relevant work documents, including engineering drawings and routings related to welding valves or similar products.

Understanding of work instructions and the tools and equipment required for welding operations is essential. A clear comprehension of safety policies and procedures (Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Quest, etc.) is expected. Safe operation of overhead cranes and other lifting equipment (forklift) is required (training will be provided).
Participation in continuous improvement initiatives and programs is encouraged.
Providing informal guidance and support to new team members is part of the role.

Regular and punctual attendance is a crucial job function.
Consistently producing quality products with minimal defects by identifying and correcting issues as they arise is necessary.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals is required. Capability to write and complete routine reports is also necessary.

Ability to address practical problems and navigate various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization is important.

Proficiency in interpreting a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form is essential.
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts is required.

Must successfully pass designated qualification tests and be qualified in a minimum of four welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW) and be able to pass horizontal pipe tests.

Compensation and benefits for this role are outlined in compliance with applicable laws. The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, qualifications, and organizational needs.

Please note that the compensation and benefits mentioned are applicable only to successful candidates hired onto local payroll.

At SLB, it is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range. The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $22-$34 per hour.

Minimum Job Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required. Preference is given to candidates with a one-year certificate from a technical school or college. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work and reside in the US without sponsorship.
