Job Summary:

This position is responsible for coordinating cost-effective transportation logistics and maximizing freight arbitrage of raw cotton via road, rail and ocean transport to customers in our global network.

This role ensures commodities move in a timely manner to meet contractual obligations and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate movement of raw cotton bales from the point of origin to end users.
  • Negotiate freight with vendors for domestic and international shipments, manage a variety of freight/warehouse bookings and international shipments.
  • Minimize storage costs through diligent scheduling of loads against all sales contracts, including reviewing all scheduled loads to optimize freight costs.
  • Complete all day-to-day freight-related tasks and resolve issues at any point of the supply chain.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and system uploads, including load dates, rail and port cuts for trucking and ocean freight.
  • Onboard 3PL providers to ensure compliance with company policies and practices.
  • Identify, investigate, and communicate discrepancies in 3PL invoices, ensuring timely receipt of unload information from carriers.
  • Develop and maintain logistics activity tools and report mechanisms, identifying trends and anomalies and taking corrective action as required.
  • Prepare and communicate inventory levels, freight capacity, and commercial reports effectively.
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in logistics, transportation, and inventory management.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill, and competence will be considered.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the transportation industry is an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) and Cost and Freight (CFR) interco terms.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to negotiate freight contracts and rates.
  • Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills, adhering to deadlines and ensuring accuracy.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and computer competence, with demonstrated ability in the use of databases, communication, and word processing software applications.
