Position Overview:
Accountable for verifying adherence to coding standards through auditing, training, and oversight of clinic coding personnel. Conducts assessments of provider documentation and code selection accuracy. Acts as a mentor and guide for coding personnel. Facilitates training sessions and serves as a member of the Clinic Support Services Department Leadership Team and the Clinic Compliance and Integrity Team.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough auditing and monitoring of coding performed by clinic coders. Generate reports and corrective action plans in collaboration with Coding Leads and Management.
2. Communicate discrepancies and corrective measures in a constructive and professional manner.
3. Analyze provider coding trends using tools such as Histograms to identify areas needing improvement. Develop strategies to work directly with providers or in conjunction with on-site coders to rectify deficiencies.
4. Evaluate the effectiveness of educational initiatives through changes in documentation or coding practices. Seek support from management and clinic directors when obstacles arise.
5. Assess coder competencies through the auditing process and identify opportunities for further education and training. Arrange necessary training sessions as needed.
6. Travel frequently to clinics to provide educational support to coding staff, clinic personnel, and providers.

7. Collaborate with Coding Leads to address issues related to claims errors stemming from improper coding and provide feedback for resolution and follow-up.


Work Schedule:
Full-time - Monday to Friday / No Weekends / No Holidays

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Preferred completion of college coursework in coding, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.
Current coding certification required (or commitment to obtain within two years): Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-P), Certified Professional Coder (CPC). Other credentials may be considered.

Minimum of three years of coding experience.
