Role Summary

The Patient Access Representative (PAR) plays a crucial role in providing clerical and administrative support, focusing on patient registration and eligibility verification. This position serves as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring the accurate collection and processing of demographic and insurance information. The PAR is responsible for delivering compassionate service in both outpatient and emergency settings, facilitating a seamless registration process for patients seeking care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls and electronic messages, to support departmental operations.
  • Maintain scheduling systems and ensure the accuracy of appointment data, verifying all necessary documentation.
  • Conduct patient interviews to gather essential information for eligibility determination and health record management, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
  • Collaborate with Patient Benefits Coordinators to identify patients who may qualify for additional resources.
  • Perform various administrative tasks as assigned to support the healthcare team.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with eligibility criteria for healthcare programs.
  • Understanding of medical terminology and interview techniques.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations and the importance of maintaining confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in electronic systems for clerical support and patient registration.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light office work, including lifting up to 10 lbs.
  • Capable of standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods.
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
