Organizational Context

Grow Public Schools (GPS) is an independent public charter school network dedicated to fostering student success through a focus on health and wellness. Established by the Grimm Family Education Foundation, GPS operates multiple campuses in Kern County, including Grow Academy in Arvin and Shafter, serving over 800 students from TK-8. Our mission is to provide a supportive learning environment that addresses the diverse needs of our students and closes the opportunity gap in underserved communities.

Position Summary

As a teacher at Grow Public Schools, you will create an engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes high expectations for student achievement while addressing individual health and wellness needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and delivering lessons aligned with state standards that foster deep understanding.
  • Adapting instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across grade levels to enhance the academic program.
  • Participating in regular instructional coaching sessions to improve teaching practices.
  • Creating a classroom environment that reflects the school’s core values and promotes a college-going culture.
  • Working with learning lab staff to implement Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) for students.
  • Maintaining accurate records of student progress and utilizing technology for assessment.
  • Communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues to support student learning.
  • Implementing the school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support framework.
  • Delivering social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum to support student well-being.
Additional Responsibilities

  • Encouraging parental and community involvement in the educational process.
  • Participating in extracurricular activities and school events.
  • Mentoring fellow educators to enhance teaching practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related field.
  • California state Multiple or Single Subject teaching credential with English Learner Authorization.
  • Proven skills in classroom management, lesson planning, and instructional delivery.
  • Familiarity with various educational technologies and teaching tools.
  • Bilingual skills are preferred but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements

This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, stand, sit, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Vision and hearing capabilities are essential for performing job functions.

Work Environment

This position is primarily in-person within instructional facilities, with some travel required to other locations.
