About the Role

Morguard is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Golf Course Assistant Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our golf course operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of our golf course facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide recommendations to the Superintendent on the daily condition of the golf course, ensuring optimal playing conditions and member satisfaction.
  • Work closely with the turf staff to develop and implement effective maintenance strategies, adhering to internal and external management policies.
  • Practice and enforce all aspects of Golf Course Maintenance and Health & Safety Policy Manuals, ensuring compliance and minimizing risk.
  • Assume a management role in the Superintendent's absence, providing leadership and direction to the turf staff.
  • Train and mentor staff on the safe operation and maintenance of golf course equipment, including machinery and safety procedures.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and condition of golf course buildings, equipment, and property, ensuring a professional and welcoming environment for members and guests.
  • Contribute to the Superintendent's pesticide and fertilizer management practices, ensuring accurate and timely application and record-keeping.
  • Repair and maintain the irrigation system, ensuring optimal water management and minimizing waste.
  • Calibrate, apply, and record fertilizer and pesticides, adhering to established protocols and regulations.
  • Set up the golf course for play, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for members and guests.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Strong knowledge of golf course maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, members, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and member satisfaction.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate golf course equipment.
