Course Focus:
The Fundamentals Nursing course emphasizes health promotion and the rehabilitative dimensions of patient care. Students engage in direct patient care while acquiring essential skills and concepts fundamental to professional nursing. The nursing process is integral as students implement foundational nursing practices.

Teaching Environment:
Instruction occurs onsite within a clinical setting in collaboration with our clinical partners.

Work Schedule:
Typically involves 12-hour shifts (7a-7p) over three to four consecutive days.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the university's philosophy, curriculum, program outcomes, and course objectives through effective clinical teaching and community service.
  • Assume responsibility for all independent aspects of assigned teaching duties.
  • Design clinical experiences and provide direct supervision and assessment of nursing students delivering care to individuals or groups.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide documented feedback aligned with course objectives.
  • Offer remediation support to students as necessary.
  • Maintain current knowledge of agency/clinical policies and procedures with assistance from agency personnel.
  • Create and distribute written clinical assignments tailored to students' knowledge, skills, and individual learning needs.
  • Grade assignments, quizzes, tests, and clinical paperwork promptly.
  • May deliver didactic course content under the guidance of the course coordinator.
  • Keep the course coordinator informed of all student and agency-related issues.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the dean or assistant dean, with direct oversight provided by a course coordinator.
