As a Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, your responsibilities will include providing comprehensive mental health assessments, treatments, and consultation services to ambulatory pediatric patients in collaboration with health center staff providers.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnose, and treat patients within the scope of practice.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans in collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and clinical staff related to psychiatric diagnoses and medical management of psychiatric disorders.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers and other health professionals, including inpatient hospitalization, as necessary.
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and maintain accurate records of patient care.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Provide leadership and guidance to medical and behavioral treatment of patients to other Christ Health Center medical and ancillary staff.
- A non-physician practitioner, who has formal education or specialized training as a Pediatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Must be licensed in Alabama as a PMHNP.
- 2 years' experience working with pediatric populations preferred.
- Ability to consult and work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers to develop effective treatment plans.
- Ability to relate to people in a manner to win confidence and establish rapport with patients and families.
- Ability to obtain health history and perform a physical exam to determine and execute a diagnosis and treatment plan in accordance with established standards, procedures, and practices.
- Graduate of an accredited program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to work independently and make clinical assessments.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Leadership and organizational skills essential.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft word and ability to work within an electronic health record.
- Must be a United States Citizen or legally authorized to working in the United States
Normal medical office environment. Full-time position.
