Job Summary

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this role will represent International SOS Government Medical Services and provide the necessary services to cover the range of Vascular Surgery services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art civilian medical treatment facility. The standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized Joint Commission (TJC), VA, and national standards.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include clinic coverage, surgery coverage, 24/7 on-call coverage, 24/7 call-back (emergent) coverage, remote consultations, on-site consultations, and emergent surgical services in the operating room. Direct patient care accounts for 95% of work performance. Services in outpatient, inpatient, and Emergency Department settings include but are not limited to:
  • Operative Services: Provide comprehensive clinical Vascular Surgery services
  • Intraoperative Follow-up: physician(s) shall be present in the operating suite for all General Surgery procedures
  • Postoperative Follow-up & Discharge education
  • Communication of Test Results
  • Medication Management
  • Administrative duties as required


Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent, be Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Surgery, and hold a current, full and unrestricted license in one or more state, commonwealth, territory or DC. Additionally, the candidate should be certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent, and possess a DEA License. Previous VA or Military experience is strongly preferred but not required. The candidate must be a US Citizen (Permanent residents can be discussed on a case by case basis) and be local or relocate to project site for the duration of the contract. The candidate must also pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance and pass VHA credentialing process.
