Position Overview:The Janitor role requires attention to detail, adaptability, and a willingness to undertake non-routine cleaning and special projects as necessary. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in offices, meeting rooms, restrooms, kitchens, dining areas, and public spaces. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain building floors through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
2. Collect and dispose of trash.
3. Clean and restock restrooms.
4. Polish furniture and fixtures.
5. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions.
6. Dust furniture, walls, machinery, and equipment.
7. Perform minor adjustments and repairs to heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.
8. Prepare cleaning solutions by mixing water with detergents or acids as specified.
9. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
10. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
11. Restore building interiors affected by fire, smoke, or water damage using commercial cleaning equipment.
12. Clean laboratory equipment, including glassware and metal instruments, using solvents and brushes.
13. Operate vehicles necessary for cleaning tasks, including vans and industrial trucks.
Safety and Security:
Adhere to procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Monitor building security by locking doors after hours and ensuring safe use of electrical appliances.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, talks, hears, and may taste or smell.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Qualifications:

Experience: No prior experience necessary.
Certification/License: TWIC Card and a Valid State ID.
