Job Summary:
Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a clinical setting, ensuring the highest quality of specimens for testing and accurate information for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures on patients of all ages, from neonates to adults.
- Collect blood samples, process specimens for analysis, and utilize computer systems to register patients, facilitate billing, and perform specimen accessioning and processing.
- Exhibit knowledge of adequate and correct collection requirements, and perform accessioning procedures accurately to ensure positive identification of specimens.
- Recognize and resolve discrepancies as appropriate, and evaluate specimen suitability and acceptability.
- Perform testing and record Point of Care instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control as assigned.
- Handle and replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols as assigned.
- Navigate and access multiple computer applications as needed, and know and abide by related policies and procedures, including compliance policies.
- Provide phlebotomy coverage as required to Medical Group offices, skilled nursing facilities, or perform in-home phlebotomy for homebound patients.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting
- Valid Driver's License
