Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Defect Project Manager to join our team at Apex Systems. As a key member of our operations engineering team, you will be responsible for managing defects and releases, working closely with cross-functional partners to drive resolution and prioritization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage defect ticket activities and serve as the primary point of contact between Operations and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive resolution, prioritization, and updates for customer and non-customer impacting defects.
  • Host meetings, generate reports, create dashboards, and optimize defect intake process flows.
  • Schedule and manage working sessions or troubleshooting sessions for high-priority production and/or release-blocking issues.
  • Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Product, and Release Management teams to track high-priority customer and non-customer impacting defects.
  • Create and own postmortem reporting on high-priority defects once resolved.
  • Engage Engineering and lab teams to involve external vendor issue resolution.
  • Work closely with Release Management and Vendor Management team on blocking defects which need attention.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing defects and/or releases.
  • Jira experience - creating dashboards, JQL, customizing workflows.
  • Confluence experience.
  • Root cause analysis and/or testing experience.
  • Learning mindset, analytical and critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize, set clear expectations, and focus on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ability to speak with people of all backgrounds and expertise, connecting with business leaders and technologists.
  • Ability to clearly convey defect status, impacts, and priority to engineering, product, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to drive collaboration across multiple teams, ensuring that the right people have the information they need for resolution.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Humble, open to learning, and receptive to constructive feedback.
