Smokehouse Operator

We are seeking a skilled Smokehouse Operator to join our team at Smithfield Foods. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for operating the batch ovens and brine chillers, ensuring that work is completed safely and within quality parameters.

• Operate batch ovens and brine chillers to achieve required temperatures
• Load and unload product, placing it into the brine and chiller
• Take chill temperatures and accurately fill out required Food Safety and Quality paperwork
• Weight and verify logs, inputting product information into the computer scale

• Knowledge and experience in the meat industry is preferred, but not required
• Competent and trustworthy to comply with federal inspection programs and company safety and health policies
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance
• Be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime
• Be able to stand extreme temperatures and push/pull heavy loads of product

The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, with frequent contact with animal fats and exposure to extreme temperatures. The physical demands include carrying, lifting, lowering, pushing, and pulling heavy and awkward objects or loads, as well as walking on wet, uneven, and slippery surfaces.

• Hourly competitive starting pay - $18.50/hour
• $0.50/hour shift differential for 3rd shift positions
