Position Overview
As a Senior Technical Leader at GEICO, you will collaborate with our engineering teams to drive innovation and enhance existing systems while identifying new avenues to leverage your expertise in solving complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership across multiple domains.
  • Work closely with product managers, team members, clients, and other engineering groups to tackle our most pressing issues.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive software development strategy tailored to various sectors.
  • Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of all solutions delivered.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Python, C#, and other object-oriented languages, alongside SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Act as a mentor and role model, fostering the technical growth and knowledge of our engineering and product teams.
  • Influence and educate senior management on technical matters.
  • Continuously share best practices and enhance processes within and across teams.
  • Analyze costs and forecast, integrating them into business strategies.
  • Determine resource needs, evaluate operational workflows, measure outcomes to ensure success, and promote continuous learning.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A proven ability to design, conduct experiments, and guide engineering direction and product strategy.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams and transitioning research into production.
  • A strong publication record in reputable conferences and journals.
  • Expertise in continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience in solving analytical challenges using quantitative methods.
  • A capacity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with developer tools throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in at least two modern programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or C#, including object-oriented design.
  • Experience with microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs.
  • Experience in designing and architecting new and existing systems.
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps frameworks.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and operational portals like Azure Portal.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring tools and performance evaluation.
  • In-depth understanding of data center structures and offerings, particularly within the Azure ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and products, including Active Directory and OAuth.
  • Experience with Azure networking.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional software development experience, particularly within a Java framework.
  • 8+ years in architecture and design roles.
  • 6+ years working with open-source frameworks.
  • 4+ years of experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this position ranges from $82,000 to $261,500, based on various factors.
