Work Environment and Logistics:

This full-time role is based at our Pee Dee (Florence) branch, primarily operating within a warehouse setting that may involve exposure to various temperatures, including cold storage areas. The position entails physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting items weighing between 30 to 50 pounds. The work pace is brisk and labor-intensive.

The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM, totaling 37.5 hours weekly. Occasionally, the position may require flexibility to address organizational needs outside of regular hours.


Key Responsibilities:

The CDL Class A Driver plays a crucial role in the Distribution Team, facilitating the collection and distribution of food from various sources. This position involves:

  • Safely transporting products to and from donors, program partners, and agencies.
  • Assisting with the loading and unloading of warehouse inventory as necessary.
  • Building and maintaining professional relationships with donors and their staff, adhering to their policies and food safety regulations.
  • Completing accurate documentation for shipping, receiving, and warehousing in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conducting equipment maintenance and safety checks, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Inspecting product donations for compliance with food safety standards through visual checks and temperature monitoring.
  • Upholding all safety protocols and best practices related to food and physical safety.
  • Preparing daily truck routes, including refueling and maintenance inspections.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the vehicle and equipment, maintaining necessary safety documentation.
  • Keeping all licenses, certifications, and medical cards up to date as per regulatory requirements.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid CDL Class A license.
  • A minimum of two years of professional truck driving experience, preferably in a food-related setting.
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate weight calculations.
  • A strong commitment to safety practices, customer service, and operational efficiency.
  • Ability to operate various warehouse equipment safely.
  • Proven ability to work independently and follow standardized procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with donors, staff, and volunteers.
