Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Barnstable Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. As a key member of our school health office, you will provide exceptional care to our students, working closely with our school nurse and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities:
  • Assess, deliver, and monitor daily student health care with registered nurse delegation, supervision, and consultation.
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for injuries and illness to the school population.
  • Implement student health care plans and emergency care plans under the supervision of the registered nurse.
  • Assist school nurse(s) in mandated health screenings.
  • Assist students in various settings (health office, classroom, transportation, field trips) for the purpose of providing care based on student health plans and assessment of student need.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of student visits, medications, treatments, screenings, etc. using SNAP electronic health record.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • May be assigned to provide 1:1 health services as directed in a student's health care plan.
  • May be required to accompany a student on District-provided transportation.
  • May cover health offices in the absence of the school nurse.
  • May travel between school buildings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in pediatrics, community health, or other relevant clinical setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records and charting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with children with special health care needs, including but not limited to tracheostomies, G-tubes, diabetes, seizures, allergies, asthma, preferred.
  • Bi- or multi-lingual (Portuguese, Spanish) applicants are encouraged to apply.
