Armed Public Safety Officer

Quinnipiac University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Armed Public Safety Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Public Safety department, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities:- Patrol campus grounds and respond to emergencies, including calls for service and incidents requiring law enforcement intervention.
- Conduct preliminary investigations and write detailed incident reports.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Provide security services for special events, such as athletic events, move-in, and graduations.
- Assist with crowd management and dignitary protection.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Public Safety or designee.
- Must be a retired member of an organized local, state, or federal government agency as a law enforcement officer.
- Must have served as a local, state, or federal law enforcement officer for an aggregate of 2 years or more and separated from such service in good standing.
- Must possess a current State of Connecticut Pistol Permit.
- Must be able to obtain a Connecticut State Police Approved Armed Security Guard Firearms Permit (Blue Card).
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must pass extensive background investigation, including check for criminal history and psychological exam.
- Must pass physical exam and drug test.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment and common sense.
The Armed Public Safety Officer will work in a fast-paced environment, responding to emergencies and providing security services to the university community. The position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends.
