**Job Summary:**

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide direct and indirect patient care in the medical-surgical setting. You will communicate with physicians, Nurse Managers, and co-workers about changes in patient's clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology.

**Responsibilities:**

* Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
* Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age.
* Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
* Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.
* Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient's response to treatment and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness.
* Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning, family is included in teaching as appropriate.
* Clearly documents in charting ideas, facts and concepts about the patient. Documentation is completed within the shift; meets standards, policies and procedures.
* Notifies physician of any abnormal lab/test results.

**Requirements:**

* CT RN License
* Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
* BLS Certification

**Working Conditions:**

* Essential: Significant manual skills / motor coord & finger dexterity, Significant occupational risk, Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force, Significant exposure to dirt, odor, noise, human waste, etc.
