Position Overview

Position Summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is dedicated to providing assistance, hope, and recovery to individuals facing significant life challenges or trauma. The Paramedic Technician role is crucial in this mission, responding to all assigned calls with the utmost efficiency and delivering exceptional patient care while ensuring a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver outstanding customer service and patient care as the initial point of contact, ensuring safe transportation for individuals with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental challenges.
  • Engage in performance quality improvement initiatives, utilizing data to enhance service delivery and outcomes.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide quality patient care by applying comprehensive knowledge of protocols for various medical situations.
  • Evaluate, treat, and transport patients using appropriate techniques and resources while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Ensure effective communication with the Systems Status Controller and respond to calls promptly, adhering to predetermined routes.
  • Achieve operational excellence by meeting established performance metrics.
  • Complete electronic Patient Care Reports accurately, documenting observations and medical care provided.
  • Maintain professional communication and foster strong relationships with colleagues and EMS system personnel.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to uphold current certifications and licenses.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure readiness and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and organized ambulance, ensuring all equipment is stocked and operational.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, addressing any concerns with the Field Operations Supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Field Operations Supervisor.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Current Florida EMT certification required.
  • Valid Florida Class E driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Current AHA CPR Certification at the BLS Provider level.
  • Complete necessary training and certifications within specified timeframes.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of Florida Chapter 401 and HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with EMS protocols and communication systems.
  • Ability to perform essential medical skills and techniques.
  • Capacity to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse populations.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to respond quickly to emergency calls and navigate challenging environments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving patients.
  • Must have correctable vision and adequate hearing for effective communication.

Working Conditions: Primarily in a driving environment with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.

Hours: Flexible shifts required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
