Position Overview
As an integral member of the healthcare team, the Inpatient Pharmacy Support Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering pharmaceutical care within the hospital setting. This position involves collaborating closely with pharmacists and healthcare professionals to ensure optimal medication management for patients.
Department: Pharmacy Services Inpatient
Work Schedule: PRN/Rotating Shift
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the provision of pharmacy services and offer technical support to pharmacists.
- Manage and replenish automated dispensing systems efficiently.
- Prepare and maintain medication orders and inventory for the pharmacy department.
- Compounding sterile and non-sterile medications as required.
- Repackage bulk medications for distribution.
- Receive and properly store incoming pharmaceutical supplies.
- Act as a liaison by triaging incoming calls and providing essential information to patients and healthcare professionals.
Qualifications
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
Pharmacy Technician credential from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy is required prior to employment.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree, or four years of applicable experience is necessary.
