Position Summary

The Mid-State Health Center is dedicated to delivering comprehensive primary care to the community, ensuring accessibility for all individuals, irrespective of their financial situation.


Key Responsibilities:
As a Referral Representative, you will support the Referral Coordinator in managing insurance authorizations for referrals and medical orders. Your role will encompass various daily operations within the patient services department, including:

  • Answering incoming calls and assisting with patient check-in and check-out processes.
  • Facilitating the completion of pre-certifications for radiology and behavioral health appointments.
  • Initiating appeals and managing insurance referrals.
  • Coordinating and scheduling patient appointments, including those for referrals.
  • Documenting and tracking all referral activities.
  • Assisting with authorizations for Veteran's Affairs and cross-border referrals.
  • Providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate task completion.
  • Traveling between office locations as required.
  • Collaborating effectively with team members and performing clerical duties as needed.
  • Verifying patient information and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Addressing patient inquiries regarding appointments and follow-up care.
  • Ensuring proper scheduling and confirmation of patient appointments.
  • Complying with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and security.
  • Greeting and registering patients in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Completing necessary administrative paperwork, including medical releases and HIPAA forms.
  • Overseeing the waiting area and coordinating patient flow.
  • Assisting with office tasks such as photocopying and data entry.
  • Balancing collected payments and maintaining a tidy waiting area.
  • Participating in required meetings and performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or GED is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a customer service role, with at least six months in a healthcare setting preferred. Familiarity with medical terminology and office equipment is essential.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to organize, delegate, and supervise tasks effectively.
  • Evaluate and improve existing processes.
  • Proficient in operating office equipment and software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Physical and Environmental Demands:
