Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Paramedic to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana. As a Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including medical treatment of wounds, vital signs, and administration of medications.
  • Perform clinical job duties, such as drawing bloodwork, placing splints, and using glucometers.
  • Support physicians, nursing, and hospital administration by accepting established objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Accurately document patient-related tasks and adapt behavior to specific patient populations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an approved Paramedic Program.
  • Paramedic License in the State of Practice.
  • Certified with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 30 days of hire.
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands of this job include exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.

The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases. The incumbent has an occupational risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning, and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
