We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital. Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the daily operations of the laboratory section, including supervising staff, coordinating workflows, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and laboratory operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.
- Provide training and mentorship to laboratory staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Participate in laboratory and organizational initiatives to improve patient care and laboratory operations.
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.
- Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or comparable role.
- One of the following certifications: Certified as a Medical Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, or categorical certification by Board of Certification (ASCP), Certified as a Medical Technologist by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCA), or HLA only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, or Certified by American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI), or Microbiology only - One of the following is required: Medical Technologist, MT(ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP) certification, or Microbiology, M(ASCP) certification, or Clinical microbiology registry from American Society for Microbiology, RM(AAM).
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience in laboratory management or leadership.
- Knowledge of laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
