We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Technology Strategy to join our team at Charles Schwab. As a key member of our Core Technology Solution (CTS) Bank, Billing, Move Money (BBMM) team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Core Banking ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Drive a holistic long-term architecture enabling Schwab Bank's 5-year roadmap
- Leverage your passion and experience in the Banking industry and technology considerations to streamline and revamp complex upstream and downstream interdependencies
- Develop solutions that scale horizontally and demonstrate pragmatic thinking around non-functional requirements, including auditability, data security, and real-time streams / replication to hydrate Systems of Reference
- Collaborate with smart people who love what they do and want to make a difference
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
- 10+ years of progressive software development & engineering experience with 5+ years acting as a Solution or Principal Architect
- 8+ years of experience in Banking Industry required
- 5+ years of experience with Payment Networks and Rails, Move Money, Fed Clearing (ACH and Checks), Payment Card Issuance and transaction processing, and Real-Time Payments (RTP)
- 5+ years of core deposits and/or lending platforms. Proven track record working with various financial messaging formats (ISO-20022, ISO-8583)
- 5+ years managing the integration of an organization's technology strategy with business architecture, processes, and goals to develop an effective enterprise architecture
- 5+ years of experience applying well-known patterns to application and service architecture; active-active database deployments, circuit breaker, strangler, etc.
- 5+ years of Integration pattern experience with SaaS vendors, Core Banking systems, Enterprise systems, and fidelity of authoritative System of Records
- 5+ years of experience implementing concepts for system design, ensuring compatibility with cloud architectures, and utilizing adaptive approaches for lifecycle models and methodologies
- 3+ years of experience in cloud native design including event-driven applications, state management, configuration and deployment strategies, security and performance tuning of batch streams and APIs
- Master's degree in computer science or related field
- Fluent with banking business architecture; small business banking a plus
- Certified on various cloud provider platforms such as AWS Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional or Azure Solutions Architect
- Strong understanding of detective and preventative run controls for processing of live money transactions
- Experience designing mission critical, 24x7 systems with resiliency across regions / zones
