Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Animal Care Aide to join our team at Gaston County, NC. As an Animal Care Aide, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of citizens and protecting them from animals and the threat of animals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional care and handling of animals, including feeding, socializing, exercising, and administering medication as indicated by medical staff.
  • Intake and process stray and owner-surrendered animals in a humane and professional manner.
  • Perform euthanasia procedures after receiving proper training and certification.
  • Assist with daily documentation of animal behavior and health, including updating paper and computer records.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, including kennel and cage cleaning, laundry, and trash removal.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including answering phones, greeting the community, and assisting with adoptions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and some experience in animal care and handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive a county vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Pass a background check and drug screening.
