Job Title: Security Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at River Edge Behavioral Health. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, staff, and visitors.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Lead Security Officer, the Security Officer will be responsible for enforcing rules and regulations, ensuring the safety of staff, clients, and visitors, and providing security measures during involuntary and voluntary admissions to the Behavioral Health Crisis Service Center.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol assigned areas to ensure safety and security of the facility and its occupants.
  • Respond to emergency situations, including crisis interventions and medical emergencies.
  • Provide security measures during admissions, including escorting clients and visitors.
  • Assist clinical staff in emergency situations to ensure the safety of clients and staff.
  • Monitor visitors and ensure they do not assist clients in escaping from the facility or bring in unapproved items.
  • Escorts unauthorized visitors from the facility.
  • Perform routine perimeter checks and report any facility-related maintenance items to the Charge Nurse.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Completion of yearly continuing education.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions under stressful situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in providing security services in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous work in a behavioral health environment a plus.
Work Environment:

The Security Officer will work in a fast-paced environment with adult and juvenile psychiatric and chemical dependency clients who are unpredictable, unmanageable, and verbally and physically abusive. Physical assaults by clients are not unusual.
