Job Summary: As a specialist at Capability Health and Human Services, the Occupational Therapist will play a pivotal role in facilitating clients' physical or mental growth by designing personalized programs to enhance their daily living and sensory-motor activities. This individual will work closely with clients within the confines of our clinic as well as the Early Intervention program, utilizing client-centered models to promote overall development. Additionally, they will perform various administrative duties to support program objectives.

The key responsibilities for this position include:
  • Developing tailored plans for therapy sessions, aimed at improving patient outcomes.
  • Conducting thorough evaluations to assess patients' needs, selecting appropriate assessment tools, and interpreting evaluation data.
  • Presenting comprehensive reports reflecting patients' strengths and areas for improvement, guiding evidence-based interventions, and directing program development.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical and administrative records in accordance with professional standards, state regulations, and agency policies.
  • Managing case assignments based on Capability Health's needs in both the Early Intervention and outpatient clinic programs.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and exercising discretion within the workplace environment.
  • Supervising Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) in adherence to Nevada standards and regulations.
  • Adhering to the occupational therapy Code of Ethics and standards of practice to ensure ethical decision-making.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development through continuing education to maintain best practices and meet Nevada licensure requirements.
  • Participating in regular staff meetings and training sessions.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work effectively in an environment serving individuals with severe disabilities who may be developmentally and behaviorally challenged.

Qualifications:
  • Certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy is required.
  • A current Occupational Therapy License from the State of Nevada is mandatory.
  • At least two years of experience working with children using knowledge of treatment practices per discipline is necessary.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
  • A valid driver's license is essential.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, local legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures governing occupational therapy in practice is necessary.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel) is required.

Physical Demands:
  • This position requires standing frequently, using hands to handle objects, talking or hearing regularly, reaching with hands, lifting arms above and below shoulder level, and occasionally sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally, and request assistance if needed. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

Working Conditions: This role will involve approximately 80% travel within the service delivery area, primarily in the Las Vegas or Reno region. Employees may encounter various outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, poor air quality, wet or humid conditions, etc.
