Job Title: Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Canonical, a leading international software company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our Metal As A Service (MAAS) hyperscale provisioning technology.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in software development, with a focus on Python, Go, and Linux server technologies. You will be working on a rapidly evolving software stack, collaborating with a globally distributed team of engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain MAAS core components and features
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure MAAS works well with other tools and is released on time
  • Contribute to the continuous integration environment, tests, and practices
  • Document current and existing features to maintain a world-class resource for Data Centre operators and users
  • Provide technical communication and collaboration with other teams
  • Take personal ownership of problems and drive them to solutions
Requirements
  • Solid track record of professional software development experience in Python, Go, or TypeScript
  • Capacity to learn quickly about new systems and techniques
  • Excellent logic, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong English language communication skills
  • Experience with Linux server technologies, including Virtualization, Containers, and network technologies
  • Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or similar degree
  • Knowledge of network technologies, including PXE, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, and NTP
  • Experience with Baseboard Management Controllers and Protocols
  • Strong experience with networking, storage technologies, and Cloud hosting and infrastructure
