About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Research Security Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our security operations team, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence in everything we do. This includes creating efficient processes, procedures, and automation to improve our day-to-day tasks and projects. You will work closely with internal customers to ensure their needs and issues are being addressed.


Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:


  • Developing and implementing scalable incident response utilities and tools to enable your fellow Security Engineers to operate at high speed and wide scale.
  • Collaborating with product and system owners to help create, build, and innovate security operations.
  • Contributing to the strategic vision for your team, partnering effectively with customers and stakeholders.
  • Establishing a roadmap and successfully delivering engineering solutions that execute that vision.
  • Proactively identifying risks and bringing them to the attention of your manager, customers, and stakeholders with plans for mitigation.
  • Communicating ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:


  • A BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience.
  • 3+ years of experience building scalable incident response utilities and tools for internal use.
  • 3 years of experience with focus in areas such as systems, network, and/or application security.
  • 3+ years of experience with web protocols and Linux/Unix tools and architecture.
  • 2+ years of experience building automated tools in languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl, and/or Ruby.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, we are looking for candidates with:


  • A MS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technology experience.
  • 3+ years of experience on a Security Operations team.
  • 3+ years of building security automation solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration, and network security.
  • 3+ years of experience with virtualization technologies, with a strong preference for AWS services.
  • 2+ years of experience building in AWS Cloud Environment and architecture.
