Emergency Medical Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paramedic to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Paramedic, you will play a critical role in providing emergency medical care to patients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:- Document patient information and procedures, and communicate effectively with licensed clinicians to ensure seamless care.
- Administer medications and operate specialized ventilators under the direction of a licensed clinician.
- Assist physicians with bedside procedures and provide support in emergency situations.
- Notify RNs or physicians immediately of changes in patient condition.
- Support patient education and evaluation, documenting in the medical record as necessary.
- Process patient charges and procedures through the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians to facilitate patient care and coordinate communications.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to department safety policies and standard precautions.
- Clean and maintain equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and arrange for repairs as needed.
- Perform patient positioning and transporting duties, utilizing proper technique and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic license issued by the state in which you practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 6 months.
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in Emergency Medical Services.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in a paramedic role or equivalent clinical experience.
- Completion of Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) or other relevant courses.
- Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic health records.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and families.
- Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, squat, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently during work shifts.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist, lift up to 20 lbs over the head, and carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance.
- Must be able to push/pull with 30 lbs of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs with a second person present.
- Will be required to use foot pedals on carts or machines.
- Will be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, and blood and body fluids hazards on a continuous basis.
- Must have functional vision and hearing.
