Interventional Radiology Technologist

The Interventional Radiology Tech is a key member of the Oroville Hospital team, responsible for performing a wide range of radiology procedures in both acute and stable patients. This role requires a high level of proficiency in all radiology procedures related to the Interventional Radiology lab, including kyphoplasty, pacemakers, implantable defibrillators, and interventions within the scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients and procedure rooms for radiology procedures in compliance with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Review patient-specific procedure orders to determine necessary materials and supplies.
- Set up and stock procedure rooms and procedure trays with needed supplies and interventional equipment prior to procedures.
- Clean rooms post-procedure, including cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Conduct necessary preparations of patient procedure rooms and document accordingly.
- Explain procedures to patients, answer questions, and address concerns.
- Assist with preparing patients for surgical procedures by positioning, shaving, and prepping.
- Perform patient transfers and positioning, as well as transporting patients to and from procedure rooms.
- Input patient data into the C-Arm.
- Act as a scrub assistant, assisting physicians during interventional procedures under fluoroscopy, maintaining a sterile technique according to established company policies and procedures, and state and federal law.
- Process x-ray images and archive to CD or DVD, complying with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures for patient medical records and state regulations.
- Assist with implementing Oroville Hospital quality goals and facility-specific action plans to achieve Oroville Hospital quality standards.
- Ensure medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with Oroville Hospital policies and procedures, maintaining the integrity of medical records and documents in real-time.
- Ensure patient billing is accurate and timely by reviewing all procedures, documenting patient equipment charges, and verifying CPT and ICD-10 codes are correct.
- Assist with maintaining environmental integrity and aesthetics, ensuring all areas are clean, sanitary, and safe on a daily basis, and that all equipment and instruments are in proper working condition by inspecting equipment daily before and after procedures.
- Make recommendations regarding equipment replacement and repairs.
- Assist with disposal of hazardous waste materials, dirty linen, and rugs.
- Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.
- Ensure effective communication with physicians and staff.
- Work with physicians and staff to ensure all necessary instruments and equipment are on hand.
- Address physician concerns in areas of responsibility.
- May assist in the development and revision of policies and procedures related to radiography to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Assist in training and orienting new employees on equipment.
- Assist with inventory ordering of supplies and re-stocking supplies.
- Comply with HIPAA policies and standards regarding patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
