Pharmaceutical Care Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Retail Pharmacy Consultant at Walgreens, you will provide expert pharmacy consulting services to patients, focusing on effective medication usage and drug interactions. You will also offer preventive and clinical healthcare services, including immunizations, diagnostic testing, and patient outcomes services. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and company policies.

Responsibilities:
* Engage patients by greeting them and assisting with products and services. Resolve patient issues in a timely manner and answer questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
* Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and joyful experience.
* Connect with patients by anticipating needs and proactively offering services. Promote patient experience by increasing awareness of healthcare services offered through Walgreens.
* Participate in events that reflect the unique communities we serve.
* Counsel patients on medicine usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, and refer to medical providers as needed.
* Perform pharmacist tasks including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management.
* Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards.
* Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy systems, including workflow, prescription fulfillment, billing, clinical documentation, and inventory management.
* Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and resolve patient issues.
* Follow-up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies.
* Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and disease state management.
* Assist and support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data and implementing procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management.
* Develop and maintain good connections with local medical communities, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.

People & Performance Management:
* Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training.
* Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations and fostering a shared vision.

Training & Personal Development:
* Maintain current knowledge and required licensing/credentialing/certification as established by federal and state regulations.
* Maintain awareness of developments in retail and management, and pursue best practices that would enhance performance.
* Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training as required by the Company.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
