POSITION OBJECTIVE
The main responsibility of the ambulette transport specialist is to safely and professionally convey clients to their designated locations. Hanco EMS serves as the primary emergency response provider for the community and offers a comprehensive range of medical transportation services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibility 1: Ensure the safe and professional delivery of clients to their predetermined destinations.
- Responsibility 2: Drivers must not suggest specific healthcare providers or facilities; all destinations are established prior to service deployment.
- Responsibility 3: Complete all necessary trip documentation accurately and obtain required signatures, maintaining patient confidentiality as a top priority. Discussions regarding runs or company matters will be confined to debriefing sessions.
- Responsibility 4: Record all necessary information in accordance with departmental standards.
- Responsibility 5: Restock all supplies utilized during service calls and ensure that all equipment is returned to its designated locations.
- Responsibility 6: Clean and disinfect the transport vehicle and equipment as needed.
- Responsibility 7: Engage in all debriefing sessions.
- Responsibility 8: Stay informed about updates related to pre-hospital procedures and regulations.
- Responsibility 9: Attend monthly training sessions or continuing education classes to maintain necessary certifications and licenses as per departmental guidelines.
- Responsibility 10: Conduct daily and weekly inspections of the vehicle while becoming familiar with the placement of all equipment.
- Responsibility 11: Participate in maintenance of the facility and grounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A valid driver's license is mandatory (if you do not possess a valid Ohio driver's license, it must be obtained within 30 days of residency).
- Compliance with Hanco EMS's fleet policy, auto insurance standards, and any additional requirements necessary for vehicle operation.
- Drivers must be at least 25 years old with no more than three moving violations or one accident and one violation in the past three years. Drivers aged 23 and 24 may have no more than two moving violations within the last three years. Drivers aged 20, 21, and 22 must have no moving violations on their driving record. Drivers under 20 are not eligible. No major convictions should be present within the last five years.
- Drivers must have held a valid driver's license for a minimum of two years.
- Health Care Provider CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire (Hanco will provide necessary on-the-job training).
- One of the following certifications is required and must be obtained within 30 days of hire (Hanco will provide necessary on-the-job training):
- Basic First Aid
- First Responder
- Ohio Division of EMS certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Healthcare Provider (Any EMT level class from another state that allows for ODPS EMT certification through reciprocity must be obtained before orientation).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset are essential.
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients served in the assigned unit/department, understanding the principles of growth and development across the lifespan and being able to assess and interpret data relevant to each patient's needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in client transportation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This role demands a full range of motion with continuous activity including walking, lifting, bending, squatting, kneeling, and standing. The position requires the ability to lift 75 pounds or more and to push/pull patients in wheelchairs. Must be capable of reaching above shoulder height. Good eye/hand coordination is necessary for pushing, pulling, and performing simple grasping tasks and fine manipulation. Excellent verbal communication skills are required for patient interaction. This position necessitates corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
This position is classified as 'at risk' for potential occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.).
