Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Correctional Officer to join our team at the Oregon Department of Corrections. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining order and ensuring the safety and security of our institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enforce rules and regulations within the institution
  • Provide care and supervision to adults in custody
  • Monitor activities and work assignments
  • Conduct cell checks and searches for contraband
  • Settle disputes and enforce discipline
  • Observe, inspect, and report on safety, sanitary, and fire hazards

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 21 years of age or older
  • United States citizen
  • Pass NTN test with a minimum score of 70 percent in all areas
  • Good employee work history
  • History of law-abiding behavior
  • Pass psychological evaluation and risk assessment
  • No evidence of substance abuse
  • Proficient in using computers
  • Valid driver's license
Selection Process:
  1. Pass NTN test with a score of 70 percent or higher in all areas
  2. Submit online application
  3. DOC will review and process application
  4. Criminal history check
  5. Personal Information, Relatives, Education, Residence History, Employment History, Personal References, Law Enforcement Applications, Military, Legal, Drug Use, Motor Vehicles, and Other Topics
  6. Preliminary Assessment Interview
  7. Background investigation
  8. Meet and greet with institution
  9. Conditional offer and medical exam
