Lead Consultant in Transmission Planning

This is a remote opportunity for a Lead Consultant specializing in Transmission Planning. In this role, you will engage in a variety of tasks that are essential for effective power system management and optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive power system modeling and analysis across long-term, near-term, and operational planning horizons utilizing advanced software for power flow, transient stability, and short circuit analysis.
- Develop and assess alternatives for the interconnection or modification of generating units and other resources, including elective upgrades and independent transmission initiatives.
- Provide expert guidance to clients on study methodologies and processes employed by various ISOs/RTOs and transmission owners to evaluate system reliability, transmission services, and interconnections.
- Evaluate the reliability and efficiency of both existing and planned power systems, proposing solutions to address any identified concerns while ensuring compliance with relevant standards and criteria.
- Create and validate models for generating units, inverters, and controllable transmission assets.
- Mentor and manage junior staff, facilitating their training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree with a focus on power systems engineering, complemented by extensive experience in power systems analysis.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in wide-area power system modeling, analysis, and planning, specifically in power flow, transient stability, and short circuit studies related to transmission system interconnections.
- Proficiency in power system modeling and analysis tools, including Siemens PTI PSSE for steady-state power flow and dynamics, as well as PowerGem TARA.
- Deep understanding of the rules, tariffs, guidelines, and processes of system operators (ISOs/RTOs) related to interconnections and transmission services.
