Position Overview: As a vital member of the project team, the Structured Cabling Technician plays a key role in boosting overall jobsite efficiency. This position involves supporting various stages of the cable installation process, including pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room setup, cable terminations, labeling, and bonding, all in compliance with established standards.
Core Responsibilities:
- Safety First: Uphold safety as the primary core value by adhering to safe work practices and the policies of both the company and clients.
- Installation Support: Assist the project team with installation tasks as required.
- Jobsite Organization: Maintain an orderly jobsite through effective housekeeping practices. This includes organizing materials, tools, and equipment, collecting debris, and promptly addressing any hazardous conditions.
- Technical Proficiency: Develop the ability to read and interpret floor plans, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets.
- Material Knowledge: Gain familiarity with the various materials and methods used in structured cabling system installations.
- Task Understanding: Strive to comprehend assigned tasks fully and ask pertinent questions before commencing work.
- Security Compliance: Ensure adherence to customer security protocols.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Travel Requirements: This role may involve minimal overnight travel (5%) in certain areas, with potential for frequent (50%+) overnight and extended out-of-town travel in others. Willingness to travel as necessary is essential.
- Additional Duties: Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Completion of OSHA 30 training within the first two weeks of employment.
Experience:
- Prior experience in structured cabling or a related construction field is preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Capability to distinguish color codes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong listening skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Proactive, dependable, and effective time management skills at the job site.
